It's been a successful month. Our last issue served to put the local gender feminists on notice that they are not going to be taking over UT like they have certain other schools. Some things simply won't stand the light of day, particularly in Texas. A half-dozen faculty and graduate students from the Department of Sociology contacted us privately to thank us for the article on the Park/Lopreato sexual harassment case and to support our suspicions about what might really be going on over there. Vice-Provost Patricia Ohlendorf, who prosecuted the case, wrote me demanding I give her the name of the person from whom we obtained the copy of the official UT report on the case. I refused.

This month we're focusing on "back to school" concerns. Our cover story reveals just how far our alma mater has come toward joining Berkeley, Michigan and other citadels of luncacy in the realm of curricular confusion. For the freshmen especially, we are featuring a primer on political correctness that might help make sense of it all. Sonia Mohammed talks about life on the edge, Jeremy Beer celebrates his namesake at the Dog 'n Duck, and our assistant editor, Comrade Z, tries his hand at writing a column for the first time.

We want to give a special thanks this month to Neil Sheffield, our lovely model for the cover, who once again was willing to take a stand for the cause of justice. Thanks a lot Neil, and dammit, Miriam wants her dress back, now.
