| Contumacy was founded in the summer of 1997 by Comrade Z and Sonia Mohammed, who was then Chairman of the Young Conservatives of Texas.
Contumacy is not an official publication of the University and it does not represent the views of the University or its officers (but we're trying). Contumacy reports on matters of interest to the students and alumni of the University and the taxpaying citizens who support it. In the spirit of the muckrakers, we encourage the investigation of abuses of power and privilege which interfere with the University's mission and which betray the ideal of liberal education. We also encourage discussion of other vital issues of the day, as well as less serious concerns of interest to the University community. Contumacy is made possible by major oil companies, global banking interests, international conglomerates, the CIA, and an assortment of right-wing foundations that fly us out to exotic cities for all-expense-paid weekends.
